About Cara Dunne

Cara Dunne completed her degree in Fine Art Painting and History of Art in the National College of Art and Design, Dublin in 2016. Her chosen medium is oil paint on canvas or board. She also works in graphic design, illustration, film-making and social media management.

In her work, Cara seeks to observe the experiences of her generation, while maintaining a connection that stems from traditional painting through to this day. She works in a considered and reflective style, juxtaposing this steady artistic process with the current culture of fleeting images and information overload.

She has exhibited in the RHA and RUA Annual Exhibitions and The National Gallery of Ireland as part of the Zurich Portrait Competition. Her artwork can be seen in the music videos and record covers of the Dublin band Mongoose, of which she is a member.

Cara is also a writer, with pieces appearing in The Irish Times, The Journal and Hot Press Magazine. She has worked as Social Media Manager for the band Mongoose since 2014, and directed Green Party Councillor Daniel Dunne’s social media campaign in the run up to the Irish local elections 2019.
